2014: Naomi Rhinehart, who turned 100 on Wednesday, keeps mentally sharp by doing puzzles and word games, Party of the century Hartland resident will celebrate turning 100 By Wayne Peal Daily Press; Naomi Rhinehart knew Lucille Ball long before the world knew Lucy. It was long before the world's most famous redhead was even a redhead. "She had mousy brown hair, and she was a few years ahead of me," Rhinehart said of her onetime schoolmate from Jamestown, N.Y. Ball, of course, went on to star in "I Love Lucy," the 1950s hit that, even now, is still playing on someone's TV somewhere in the world. But Rhinehart is a long-running hit in her own right. The Hartland Township resident turned 100 on Wednesday. "It was just a great day," said her daughter, Esther Terminelli. Rhinehart will be the focus of a family party Saturday, surrounded by her children and as many of her grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren as can make it for the celebration. Even at the century mark, Rhinehart does her own laundry and cleans her room within the home she shares with her daughter's family. "She'll even move her dresser around, and I'll say, 'Mom, take it easy,' " Terminelli said. Her dedication may stem from her hardscrabble beginnings. With a big family and with the Great Depression at hand, Rhinehart admits money was tight. "We were poor," she said. But that didn't stop her from doing things for others.
