About Napoleone Verger
Napoleone Verger was an Italian baritone.
In 1860 he participated in the expedition of the Thousand in the liberation of Sicily, under the orders of Garibaldi. In 1861 he began his singing studies in Paris, and made his debut in 1863 at the Théâtre Italien as Don Carlo in Ernani of Verdi. In 1870 he married in London the dancer Angelina Fioretti. The following year he undertook a tour to the United States with the famous diva Christina Nilsson. From return to the European stages, he performed in Barcelona the season 1881-1882 at the Teatre del Liceu in Don Pasquale and La favorita by Donizetti, and in 1882-1883 as Germont in La Traviata. When retiring, he settled in Madrid, dedicated to teaching; Some of his outstanding students were the tenor Luis Iribarne, the baritone Ignacio Tabuyo and the sopranos Maria Galvany and Matilde de Lerma.
