Nathaniel Bliss, of Longmeadow

Not the same as Nathaniel Bliss, of Springfield born January 26, 1671, son of John and Patience Bliss, who married Mary Wright.

Nathaniel Bliss was born 8 September 1679 at Springfield, Hampden, Massachusetts, and died 12 Mar 1751 at age 71 in Springfield, Hampshire, Massachusetts Bay. He was the son of Samuel Bliss and Sarah Stebbins.

He married twice.

Nathaniel Bliss first married Mary (also seen as Mercy) Morgan on 20 January 1704 at Springfield. She was the daughter of Davis Morgan and Mary Clark.

Nathaniel Bliss married second to Mary Dorchester on 30 October 1742 at Springfield. She was the daughter of James Dorchester and Sarah Parsons, and the widow of Joseph Cooley.

Excerpted from Willard S. Allen's 1877 NEHGR article on Longmeadow Families, p. 419:

Nathaniel Bliss, of Longmeadow, son of Samuel and Sarah [Stebbins] Bliss was married on January 20, 1704, to Mary Morgan, daughter of David and Mary Morgan. She was born December 24, 1686.

Their children were:

1. Nathaniel, born October 26, 1704, died November 23, 1771.
2. Mary, born September 11, 1706, died January 17, 1725.
3. Mercy, born April 24, 1709.
4. Hannah, born May 26, 1711, died July 19, 1712.
5. Hannah, born October 1, 1713, died July 3, 1800.
6. Pelatiah, born March 4, 1717, died October 24,1789.
7. Bathsheba, born August 30, 1722, died February 15, 1794.
8. Mary, born July 31, 1725, died August 2, 1725.
9. Abner, born August 19, 1726, died April 20, 1782
