About Nathaniel Gilmore Carter

He stood with the Constitution of the United States of America (greatest document ever written by man), in a time when the Secession of Virginia denied all Virginians the rights under the United States of America's Constitution.

    • ********************************************************** Nathaniel G Carter Claim No. 1355

"Claims of Loyal Citizen for Supplies furnished during the rebellion"

Mr. Carter appears to have been a Union Man. His son James Francis Carter, his son-in-law Moses Thorpe went into the Union Army by his advice and consent. He also persuaded Thomas Thorpe to enlist. - Silas Thorpe who was a soldier in the Union Army testifies strongly to his loyalty-says he (Thorpe) went with a scout of the 8th IL at midnight to claimant's house and got from him information of a scouting party of Mosby's men, their number and location and so were enabled to attack them successfully the next day.

                                                         We find him loyal.
