~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Nathaniel Newman Hylton was a Revolutionary War soldier having served under Capt. William Calloway's Company, Bedford County, Virginia. He is listed as a Patriot in the DAR index, #A134713. He never collected his pension due to the fact of his last name being misspelled, later proven by son, Edward. He did not leave a will, but had distributed all his property among his children prior to his death proven by Patrick County, VA deeds.

He married Elizabeth Wade in 1773 in Bedford County, VA. Documented children are: Martha, b. 1774 married Samuel Harris 19 Sep 1792,Patrick; Senny, b. 1775 married John Agee, Jr., 1798, Patrick Co.; Nathaniel, married Polly Pedigo, 21 Dec 1802, Patrick Co.; Elijah, b. 1780, married Rachel Tuggle, 7 Sep 1807; Lucy, b. 1784, married Jonathan Hubbard, 13 Dec 1807; Edward, b. 1785-10 Dec 1861, married Sarah "Sally" Hurt, 26

Dec 1816; Ursly, b. 1787 married Abel Lee, 12 Dec 1807; Jacob Wade, b.1790 married Virginia Jane Manning; Elizabeth, b.1796, married William Harris, 7 Nov 1814.
