About Naveen Andrews

Naveen William Sidney Andrews (born 17 January 1969) is a British Indian actor. He is best known for portraying Sayid Jarrah in the television series Lost, Kip in the film The English Patient and Sanjay in the 2002 remake of Rollerball.

For his role on Lost, Andrews was nominated for a Golden Globe in 2006, a Primetime Emmy Award in 2005 and received the Screen Actors Guild Award for Outstanding Performance by an Ensemble in a Drama Series in 2006.

Andrews was born in Lambeth, London to Nirmala, a psychologist, and Stanley Andrews, a businessman,[1] both Malayali Nasrani immigrants from Kerala, India.[2]

He plays guitar and sings, while tap-dancing to his own tune as a hobby.[11] He became a naturalised U.S. citizen on 27 May 2010.[12]

Naveen William Sidney Andrews is an Emmy- and Golden Globe-nominated British star of Indian descent on the hit American TV series Lost, but is also well-known for his role on The English Patient back in 1996.

A graduate of the Guildhall School of Music and Drama, Andrews got his start on television, starring in the popular -- to say nothing of racy -- 1993 miniseries The Buddha of Suburbia. He attracted international attention as Kip, Juliette Binoche's Sikh boyfriend in The English Patient and that same year portrayed a haughty king in Mira Nair's Kama Sutra: A Tale of Love, a film whose content inspired no shortage of controversy in India.

At the age of sixteen, whilst at Emanuel School, he fell in love with his mathematics teacher, Geraldine Feakins with whom 7 years later he had a son, Jaisal, born in 1992. Andrews is in a relationship with actress Barbara Hershey and they live in Los Angeles. The couple separated briefly in 2005 and, during that time, Andrews had another son, Naveen Joshua, with another woman, Elena Eustache. He and Hershey later reconciled. He has been involved in an on-going custody dispute with Eustache over Naveen Joshua; on 7 January 2009 Andrews was granted temporary sole legal and physical custody of the child.
