About Nehemiah Mead
From Descendants of William Mead: Working file of Mary Lou Cook, updated 4 June 2011
http://collectornuts.com/mead.pdf
Nehemiah Mead (born twin to Enos, Nov. 17, 1721 - bet 1760 and 1764) son of Jonathan, grandson of John, great grandson of John, second great grandson of William, was said to be born in Greenwich and died in Crum Elbow, Dutchess County, New York.
Asserted to have married Sarah Barton (Jan 5, 1723 - aft. May 1760, born in Greenwich) on Dec. 19, 1746.
Asserts that his will, written in Crum Elbow, dated May 21, 1760, mentions wife Sarah, four sons - Nehemiah, Joseph, Phillip, and Noah - and daughter Sarah Mead. Executors named were brothers Enos and Jonathan, both from Crum Elbow. Freelove Barker, Samuel Barker Sr, and Samuel Barker Jr. of Dutchess County were listed as witnesses. (source: Calendar of Wills, New York, 1626- 1836).
Asserts that Nehemiah had a twin brother named Enos, so the existence of a son named Enos is questionable. He wasn't listed in the 1760 will, which was probated Jan. 27, 1764 (Source: Weaver, Lucius Egbert, Copier, Will of Nehemiah Mead, Received from Wanda Mead Campbell, 29 Jan 2005).
Children asserted as:
- 1. Nehemiah Mead (May 27, 1747 - Feb. 17, 1822) born in Little Nine Partners, Dutchess County, Province of New York, and died in Easton, Dutchess County, New York
- 2. Joseph Mead (b. June 5, 1749) born in Crum Elbow, died in Mayfield, Fulton County, New York, married Typhosia Young (b. c1750)
- 3. Clarinda Mead (b. c1750) married Isaac Mead, Jr.
- 4. Philip Mead (Apr. 30, 1752 - Sept. 18, 1830) born in Crum Elbow, died in Mayfield.
- 5. Noah Mead (b. 1754) born in Crum Elbow, not the Noah Mead found in Warren County, New York.
- 6. Sarah Mead (b. Oct. 6, 1759) born in Crum Elbow.
