In Memoriam.

  Newberry S. Longnecker was born in LaFayette, Indiana, July 21st 1838, and died at his late home in Walnut March 21, 1912, aged 73 years, and 8 months.
  In an early day he came with his parents to Livingston County, Illinois, where he was united in marriage to Miss Elizabeth Ann Cox, July 21st, 1859.  He moved to Iowa, in the vicinity of Walnut, October 3rd, 1875.  There were eleven children born in this home, nine of whom are living.  All were present at the funeral except one son, Russel, who is in California.
  Seven years ago his health began to fail and during the last three months of his life he was confined to his bed.  He leaves to mourn his loss, a wife, nine children, thirty-six grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
  Funeral services were held at the home, Sunday afternoon, March 24th, at 2:00 o'clock, conducted by Rev. W. C. Smith of the Methodist Church and Rev. F. P. Brewster of the Presbyterian Church.  The body was laid at rest in the Walnut Cemetery.  The bereaved family have the sympathy of the community.
