The Old Ocoee Baptist Church was organized the second Saturday of August 1836 (8/13/1836). Charter members of this church included the families Campbell, Coleman, Daugherty, Duggan, Higgins, Lawson, Lemmine, Patterson, Ritchey, Rogers, Suminy, and Tummins. Almon Guinn and his future daughter in law, Sarah Lillard, along with Abraham Lillard and Jenny Lillard were also members of this founding congregation. Almon is also listed in the 1840 Polk County, Tennessee census. The Guinn families are recorded as being members of the Big Pigeon Church in Coke, Tennessee. Listed Guinns' are Agness, Almond, Amy, Nuraney, Polley, Susan and Athaligh Mullens. This roster of members included black slaves whose membership rolls recorded their first names only (as was the custom then). They were Luce, LeRoy, Jack, et. al.
It is believed that Neuraney died prior to 1880 in Saline County, Missouri but this has not been verified.
