BIOGRAPHY:

Newton Chase was born in Croyden, NH on March 5, 1807. He went from Cambridge, VT, to Jay, VT, in 1849. He at once took a prominent position in town affairs, and the following spring was elected constable and one of the board of selectmen. He represented the town in 1859, and held positions of both school superintendent and justice of the peace. He lived with his daughter Mrs. WN DuBois in Troy.
