Nicholas Gentry, III

There were two Nicholas Gentry's in the third generation: 1. Nicholas III, son of Nicholas II/Junior, who was the son of Nicholas I, the immigrant. That Nicholas would be Nicholas Gentry III and he was the father of another David Gentry, born 1754, who was the father of John Norment Gentry (often confused with Johnathan Gentry, who was the grandson of THIS Nicholas III). 2. THIS Nicholas III, son of Samuel II, who was the son of Nicholas I, the immigrant. THIS Nicholas would be Nicholas III Gentry, the third Nicholas born in the line of Samuel II, brother to Nicholas II. (These are their published names and the Roman Numerals were used to differentiate generations.) THIS Nicholas III was married to Mary Brooks and their family tree can be found on the website for the Journal of Gentry Genealogy by Willard Gentry under Descendants of Samuel II Gentry.
