Nicholas Goldsborough was the son of Nicholas Goldsborough I (1609-1632) of Shrewton, Wiltshire, England and his wife, Mary Gilbert (1613-1642). He was the husband of Margaret Howes and immigrated to American about 1669 via Barbados, New England, and finally to Kent Co., Maryland where he died in 1670. It is believed, via an account written by his son, Robert Goldsborough in 1722 that Nicholas, Robert's father, was buried on Kent island on the Plantation of Tobies Wells.

Nicholas Goldsborough, the Progenitor of the Goldsborough Family of Maryland, was b. 1640-1641, at Malcolm Regis, near Weymouth, in the County of Dorset, England, and m. 1659, Margaret Howes, the only dau. of Abraham Howes, son of William Howes, of Newbury, in the County of Berks, England.
He had three child., viz.,
- Robert Goldsborough, b. Advent Sunday 1660, at Blandford, Dorset County, England, and d. Christmas Day 1746
- Nicholas Goldsborough, who d. 1705, and
- Judith Goldsborough.
The firstnamed Nicholas Goldsborough left England in 1669 and went to Barbadoes, thence to New England, and finally, early in 1670, settled on Kent Island, where he d., and was buried on the plantation of Tobias Wells. His wife survived him, and m. 1672, George Robins, of Talbot County, and had a son, Thomas Robins, who m. twice.
