He is not a direct descendant of Obedience Robins, but may be a collateral relative at several generations' remove. This Robins family originates from Banbury, Oxfordshire, which is about a day's foot journey (~25 miles) from Long Buckby, Northamptonshire (origin of the Obedience Robinses).

Thomas Robins (1672-1721) and Thomas Robins (1640-1700) were contemporaries in Talbot County. The former was referred to as "junior" to distinguish him from the latter, who was called "senior." Their kinship is assumed by local historians, but consensus on the degree of relationship is lacking.
