About Nicolaas Goosen
Nicolaas Goosen (1962 - 2003)
Brief overview:
Nicolaas (40), who had been missing, was found dead by an employee at Meadowbank Farm, near Vrede, Free State, while working in the fields. Goosen's throat had been slit and there were open wounds to his abdomen. It could not be established as to where or when the murder had taken place.
Vrede residents reported they had seen a car with Gauteng licence plates driving around the area, with three black males and one white male inside. The SAPS subsequently arrested three men, and they established that the car had been hijacked in Heidelberg.
Constable Christopher Mophiring believed that the white male was Goosen. Simon Mokoena (20), Phillip Seretho (24), and Joseph Motaung (18), were arrested for being in possession of a stolen vehicle. It was uncovered that Mokoena and Goosen were employed in Heidelberg as gardeners. Police are investigating a case of possession of a stolen vehicle and a case of murder. The three men, who appeared in court, will appear in Vrede magistrate's court again on June 19th 2003.
