REMARKS: "There is a tradition concerning Nicholas, to the effect, that on his wedding day he received a severe injury and was told by his physicians that if he refrained from consumating his marriage for a few days he would recover; if he would not do what they advised, his death was nigh. However, he would enjoy his wife's society on the nuptial night, and hastened his death, which occurred very shortly afterwards, his wife being then pregnant of a son."
