AGED PIONEER DIES AT BEAR RIVER CITY
Funeral services for Nels Christensen, an aged pioneer of Bear River City, will be held at the Bear River Ward chapel Thursday afternoon at 2 o’clock, under the direction of Bishop C.C. Johnson. He died Saturday at 12 o’clock of pneumonia at his home in Bear River City, after an illness of only three days, being 88 years of age at the time of his death. Mr. Christensen was born at Kappendrup, Denmark, August 13, 1835. He emigrated to Utah in 1870, going direct to Bear River City, where he has since resided. His wife died December 21, 1920. Mr. Christensen was a faithful Latter-day Saint, and active in the organizations of the Bear River Ward. Surviving are the following sons and daughters: Ephraim, Joseph and Hyrum Christensen of Bear River City; Hans Christensen of Ogden, John Christensen of Salt Lake City, James Christensen of Moore, Idaho, Mrs. Sophrona Frisby of Salt Lake City, and Mrs. Gertrude Iverson of McGill, Nevada. There are also thirty-three surviving grand children. Following the services Thursday, the remains will be interred in the family plot at the Bear River City Cemetery.
