1900 Mention: Copy afterA. Gaardboe: "The last night men in Vendsyssel" The publishing house of Viking Books, Copenhagen 1968. (Page 74-76) Esbjerg library.

Tårs Sogns night people.

The first night-dwelling tradition mentioned here was on Vestergaard's property in Tårnby, but at the start of this <19th, ie in the early 1800s, the fatal cottage was broken down and a new "nathus" was built on about 400 meters east of the church, where Tårs and Houstrup eierlav gave the necessary reason. Here, Nathuset, as the inhabitants call it, still, the "1890s", repeatedly and extensively, and the area that was added from the beginning of the house has been cultivated for the longest time and is now run like any other householder.

The nightmare in Tårs is probably the oldest in Vendsyssel, not only does this conclude that the messenger has found the man in Tårs mentioned in the churches before his constants in the other parishes, but it is also possible to say the most popular overnight residence throughout the country, and has caused the inhabitants of neighboring neighborhoods to convey some of the contempt of the raccoons, to the people of the parish, and called them with the insane name "Tårs Rakkere", which has again contributed that the Tårs farmers on many occasions outside the confines of the parish have been subject to an equally unwise treatment, sim ridiculous contempt. This night-detached house has probably also been the most populous, and in 1824, when nightman Mikkel Olesen stayed here, there were already 14 people in total.

Danish Census Transcriptions (Folketællinger) 1801,1834 : Niels Nielsen-Karen Pedersdatter - http://ddd.dda.dk/dddform_uk.asp

The first nightman couple in Tårn, as the oldest church book of the parish, is Laurs Jensen and wife Marie Pederdatter who, as mentioned above, had a child in church in 1716. Of their children, the son Lias Larsen, born in 1718, inherited the order for the father. It is told of him that he had once been out of his dealings with the northern parishes in Vendsyssel and had raped a wife on this trip, which made him expensive to stand because his victim's man who favored the fast trial prosecuted him by this Flat a brok injury, since he was wearing all his life. His wife, who died the same year as he, was named Kirsten Jensdatter. How has it happened that no one of their children remained in the order, is not known, because in 1787 the church book denounces Jens Kristian Nikolajsen, who was wrongly called Jens Hansen and Abelone Nielsdatter in the name of a childhood boy, and this couple has probably been next to Elijah.

  • note 1 -In "Jutland Almueliv", page 259, a move is mentioned that, like the ensuing succession, could indicate that Jens Kr. Nikolajsen was a little more religious than most of his workmen. When one of their children was even sick, cry Abelone over here as they sat and shared a bottle of brandy. "What are you crying for?" said Jens Nikolajsen, "for will that sweet Jesus have him, let him take him!" He also had a reason to say so because they had a total of 13 children -
  • note 2 - of whom a daughter Maren was married to a man named Jens Kristensen (Glerias) who, between him and his sister-in-law, collapsed with the father-in-law -
  • note 3 - displaced the time of hunting telling that when he had grown older he became ill, but in spite of that he could not shut down the kind of sport.
  • note 4 - When he went over a day with a jar of milk he had begged and the ghost on his neck, he heard a few brook birds at some distance, but when he could not detect them, he put the jar on a tin to search for a little in the presence. When he had made a couple of turns, his bad eyes fell on the jar, which he assumed for the coveted game, why he was aiming and shooting: "Yes, you say enough," he exclaimed, but now I am going to sue you! " Another daughter, Ane Kirstine, had, as mentioned before, slept with a guardian son from the parish, and later had many other worshipers, with whom she diverted more children.
  • Note 5 - A third daughter, Else, married a son of Windstick in Lendum, Hans Nielsen Windstick, who, after the father-in-law's death in 1817, inherited the order. One of his daughters, Karen Marie, was raised by the priest in Ugil, Pastor Høeg (1819-1844), but if her later destiny is known nothing. Hans Nielsen, "Nat-Hans", "Hans Vindepind" volunteered voluntarily in 1823 or 1824, and the following year this was taken over by a man named Mikkel Olesen, who did not originally belong to the nightman class but avoided however, not to receive his name of the name, in future he was called "Nat-Mikkel". In the first 25 years of Mikkel Olesen's time, the business went well, so in the spring of 1838 we spoke no less than 22 horsebacks around his home, although this was probably a small part of the total amount he had spent in the winter after that for the farmer saw unfavorable years in 1837.
  • Note 6 - He was the last one in Tårs died as a poor man in the parish of the parish in 1873. In Mikkel's time, the conditions had improved so that his children were able to gain admission to the population so far opposed to the people of the night people inclusion in its genealogies. "Peder udøbt" was one of the staggering shakers, but he had so often been in Nathuset in Tårs that he should be mentioned right here. Rakker-Stine, who was stiff in the art of tragedy, is said to be a daughter of Elias (?) Living in North Tykskov. She was almisselem, and Pastor Høeg, who knew her hanging for tobacco, sent her in the capacity of a deputy leader. a. sometimes a 4-piece kardus smoke tobacco to powder to snus When she got such a delicious- bitterly, she held it up for her nose and said - "Vip, vip my little gold bull!", When you consider that Elias Larsen, Jens Kr. Nikolajsen and his Nielsen, each in particular, had a larger children's flock, of which almost no one neither could and probably neither wanted to establish a home other than the fathers where they were born, easily understand how numerous that population which here eventually became young and old. It can thus be mentioned that the often mentioned Ane Kirstine had at least 5 children, of which the church book states 2 (1820 and 1823), she had deputy master Mads Pedersen. 1823 is noted: "Mads Pedersen, One with Glarmesterkiste and without vistas Remaining"Several of the tribe have become the municipality's general messenger.

notes:

  • 1) Jens Chr. Nikolajsen and Appellone Nielsdatter are already mentioned in 1782 and 1785 in Tårs Sogns Church Book.
  • 2) 13 children are somewhat exaggerated. Jens Chr. Nikolajsen and Appelone had 7 children baptized in Tårn's church in the years 1782-1799. Of which 2 died as dull. An 8th child - probably born 1800 or 1801 in Jelstrup parish, is mentioned as dead and buried in Tårn Sogns Cemetery in 1801, 3 months old.
  • 3) Jens Christensen (Glerias) married Marel Jensdatter in 1818, one year after the father-in-law's death, and only in 1819 Glerias and Maren moved to Tårs. Consequently, he has not been able to drive a lot of racing together with his father-in-law.
  • 4) Jens Christensen Glerias, alias Jens Mol (s), has probably never owned a gossip - and has hardly ever hunted. During his time, the land-bearing classes guarded the hunter, etc. so if Jens Kristensen has more or less publicly worn a boy, he had probably been arrested and accused of cruelty, which apparently never happened. In addition, for a number of years, it was forbidden for men to own firearms, but this period is not known.
  • 5) The alleged relationship between Ane Kirstine and the unnamed farmer's son can not be proven as it has not been fruitful. Something similar is said about many girls and / or sons.
  • 6) Next to the railing he made a kind of hats of cat or dog skins and provided them with a shadow of paper and later on a look. Formerly used in many parts of Vendsyssel the so-called catechismus houses, which were made of leather with a round wreath below the fox fur. They were somewhat tall and rounded with leather shadow covered skins - cf. A. P. Gaardboe: Pastor from Vendsyssel, page 341-342. The notes 1-5 by Willy Søndergaard.
