https://www.findagrave.com/memorial/42865419/nimrod-jones - Nimrod Jones* is the only known Revolutionary War Soldier buried in Carroll County, Georgia. Nimrod was born in Orangeburg County, South Carolina. It is thought that his father was Richard. He later moved to Columbia County, Georgia (Which was broken up and is now 4 or 5 Georgia Counties.) where he met and later married Charlotte Bulloch on 15 Jan 1791. Their children were: Charlotte (Davis), Fereby (Reynolds), William Long Jones, Permilia (Breed) and Louisa (Breed). It is unknown when and where Charlotte passed currently. Nimrod married Elizabeth Gray on 15 Mar 1812. Children were: Richard, Emeline (Futral)and Mary Elinor (Stillwell), Elizabeth Ann (McElroy). Elizabeth Gray Jones passed before 1821, location unknown. He then married Rebecca Gray on 15 July 1821 in Columbia County, Georgia. Only Child was Rachel (Hicks). (Relationship with Elizabeth is unknown but is thought they were Sisters.). Nimrod was a Quaker and was 'Disowned' from that Church because of his military participation in the Revolutionary War. Nimrod won a land lot in Columbia County, GA in the 1820 Land Lot Lottery drawings. He later won a Land Lot Lottery in Carroll County in 1827. The parcel being in District 5 and Land Lot 256. Memorial is continually in process. I am his GGG Great Grandson.
