About Noah Badertscher
Noah Badertscher was born in Blufton, Ohio on August 19, 1871. He married Louise Blase of New Bremen, Ohio and they made their home in St. Marys, Ohio. This union was short as Louise died after a few years, leaving a daughter and son, Esther and Leonard. Several years later Noah married Matilda Rohrbach. This union was blessed with two daughters and six sons; Albert, Arthur, Paul, Leon, Mary Margaret, Christ, Don and Anna. Noah and Matilda had sixteen grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
They lived in St. Marys for several years after their marriage, then moved to a farm three miles north of town. Noah continued his position as Chainmaker at St. Marys several years after moving to the farm and was only absent from his anvil and tongs several weeks each year during the harvesting time. Very seldom did he ride to his factory work, but walked three miles each morning and evening to and from his job, taking the Lake Erie and Western Railway as his route. Weather conditions never changed his plans for going to work.
