About Noah Mitchell, I
. NOAH b. at Plymouth, MA 16 Sep (or 20 Jun 1712); d. 1784+; lived at Kingston, MA before moving with his parents to North Yarmouth, ME in 1735. Noah was 16 when he came to North Yarmouth with his parents; five years later, he returned to Kingston and married his cousin Hannah Mitchell, dau. of Joseph and Bathsheba (Lombard) Mitchell, b. 4 May 1687 at Barnstable, MA. After the birth of their first child Noah and Hannah returned to North Yarmouth. Following the sickness, disease, fires and scarcity of food caused by the terrible droughts west of the Kennebec River in 1761 and 1762, Noah moved his family to coastal Washington county where timber and salt marshes could provide for their needs. They arrived at Pleasant River about 1766 and settled at Columbia Falls. Noah was still there in 1784. (The BangorHistorical Magazine of 27 Apr 1779) lists Noah as a resident of Addison.) It appears that he left the area by 1788. Noah had deeded his No. Yarmouth homestead to his son, John, in 1760 and the deed was signed without the signature of his wife, Hannah, so it is presumed that she had died by that time. He married (2nd) Hannah Low b. at Marshfield, MA 23 May 1717; d. at Columbia July 1782; she was the daughter of Arthur and Elizabeth (Crooker) Low. There were no children from this marriage.
