About Noah Ness
Noah was the son of Henry & Christianna Ault Ness. He married Pulchera Rode April 1, 1866, in York. In 1860, he was a laborer living in Manchester Township. He stood 5' 6" tall and had light hair and brown eyes.
A Civil War veteran, he enlisted in York August 7, 1862, with Co. B, 130th Pa Inf, at the rank of private. He soon fell ill and was discharged January 10, 1863, after two months in Finley U.S. General Hospital for a lung condition, the symptoms of which could indicate tuberculosis. Nonetheless, he volunteered in Manchester Township March 17, 1865, to serve at the rank of private with the 103rd Pa Inf, first unassigned, later with Co. D. Honorably discharged June 25, 1865.
