A HAPPY OLDE COUPLE Warrensburg Journal-Democrat of August 13th (1887) A wedding took place yesterday at Hazel Hill, between a couple of esteemed old Johnson county people, which will cause much surprise. They were probably supposed, both being grandparents, to have gotten over all such thoughts. But that only show how much we may be mistaken in this worlds. Whether it was an early attachment broke out afresh or whether it was a plant of recent growth, we know not. But suffice to say, that Noah Redford, at the age of 84 years and Mrs. Amelia Youngs at the age of 69, were joined together,"for better or worse," till death does them part," yesterday. We hope both may live long to enjoy their honeymoon and that their skies may prove a celestial blue. The ceremony was preformed by Rev. Mr. Meigs. Mr. Noah Redford is well known in the northern section of this county where he resided many years, removing to Johnson county in fifties. He is a native of Stokes county, North Carolina, emigrating to this county, accompanied by his first wife fifty-five years ago, in a wagon drawn by a pair of oxen and was several months making the trip. This recent marriage is evidence that the old gentleman retains his original pluck. During his long life, he has been held in high esteem by those who knew him, as a man of strict integrity, he has great-grandchildren grown, that we are mistake not, is blessed with great -great-grandchildren. [12] Thursday December 13, 1888 Paralysis Uncle Noah Redford was seized with a paralytic stroke, Tuesday morning and has since remained in a hopless condition without much hope of ever being better. His whole right side is completely paralyzed, rendering him speechless. Dr. Robinson was at once called in and every thing possible done to alleviate his condition. Uncle Noah is one of the oldest citizens of Johnson county and is 84 of age. Obituary

A GOOD MAN GONE Uncle Noah Redford, as he was usually called passed away, December 18, 1888. Brother Redford was born is Stokes county, North Carolina, January 13, 1805; married Phobe G. Dodson in 1825; she of the same county, and came to Missouri in 1829 settling in Moniteau county where he resided till 1846, when he moved to this (Johnson county) where he has resided every since his home being in this city for many years previous and up to his death. He has raised a large family of sons and daughters all of whom are our best citizens. Brother Redford made a profession of his faith in Christ as his Savior and was bapitised in the Union Baptist Church in Moniteau county by Rev. John Longden, about the year 1835 and has live a faithful an consistent member of the Baptist church to the day he died. His membership when he was in the First Baptist Church in Warrensburg. Brother Redford was not an educated man and yet he was a polished gentleman. His wife by his first marriage died 4 years ago, but he had married again to Mrs. Amelia Youngs; who still survives him in sadness and gloom they having lived very happily together for about two years, since their marriage. His death will eat a gloom over this entire city as all feel a noble Christian has fallen. His manly deeds will still live in the memory of all who knew him and his Christian example will do for all to imitate. Source: Copied from the California Democrat paper, California, Missouri [13]
