Noah Whipple

This Noah, born April 23, 1747 is not the son of Geni.com's Thomas Whipple, Jr and Mary Whipple; but rather is the son of Thomas Whipple III and Abigail Wood.

The line of Thomas Whipples can be confusing. The first of this line was Thomas, the son of Samuel that was born in Providence, RI, married Abigail Jenckes, and then moved to the Enfield area in ~ 1700 or shortly after. His first son, Thomas, was born ~ 1698 also in Providence, so he moved as a very young child with the family. This second Thomas married Mary Gary in 1722. This family is well documented from genealogists on both the Gary and the Whipple sides. There is no suggestion at all of a son named Noah. Thomas and Mary Whipple's oldest son was also named Thomas and was born in Enfield in 1723. This Thomas Whipple III married Abigail Wood in 1745. So not only do we have 3 straight Thomas Whipples that lived in Enfield, but two of them married an Abigail. This Noah is the only known son of Thomas Whipple III and Abigail Wood, although he had a sister named Ann or Anne.
