About Norman Griswold
Lake Odessa Wave, 27 Jun 1913
Norman Griswold was born in Lorain, Ohio Nov. 21st, 1835, and died at his farm home south west of town June 13, 1913. On Dec. 31, 1863, he was married to Anna Haymaker. To them eight children were born.
He is survived by the wife, two daughters, Mrs. Emma Retan of Jackson, a trained nurse who has been here much of the time for several weeks back assisting in the care of her father, and the other daughter Mrs. Ida Gilbertson on the home farm; also by one brother, one sister and five grand children, Mrs. Ruth Retan-Lehr of Adrian and Miss Mildred Retan at home at Jackson; also Arthur Griswold of Ionia and Reva and Beatrice Griswold.
Mr. and Mrs. Griswold moved on the farm where he died, over 45 years ago, when it was practically all woods and by years of toil have made for themselves a comfortable home. While for several months he has been a great sufferer he has shown remarkable patience. He passed to the great beyond with full confidence in Him who said, "I am the resurrection and the life."
The funeral service was held on Monday, June 16 at the U.B. church, conducted by the pastor Rev. Davis and burial was in Lakeside Cemetery.
