Schooled at Gill College headmaster was prof. Drysdale, left school & joined Nesbits horse as Corporal age 19 & fought against the boers for 3 yrs. arrived in Rhodesia 1900, joined his brother Bob in Belingwe on Doro Ranch and ran his trading store for 16yrs (Mataluse). Married Maude Gowar 12-2-1918 from Annes Villa Komadagga, Somerset East, South Africa. Was transport director of Zeederburgs in Fort Vic.

Abt 1925 bought Bruce Hame farm (cattle sheep & green wood contracts for Govt. Police Hospital, school) on boundary of the Coronation mine, from L.K.Robinson who moved south to Mkosi river ranch. Sold 1938, Retired to Flesk Plots (breezy Devon) Fort Vic. Worked at Pailly's Auction recording clarke & part time cattle grader for Bill Hullet (Snr)

NESBITT'S HORSE. Raised in the Eastern Province of the Cape in 1899, with a strength of 400. The Commanding Officer was Lt.-Col. R.A.N.Nesbitt, formerly of F.A.M.P. Served with the Colonial Division and in practically all the theatres of the S.A.war except Natal. The flash was oblong, black and gold, and the initials were worn on hat and shoulder straps.
NB : F.A.M.P = Frontier Armed and Mounted Police, raised in 1855, became Cape Mounted Riflemen in 1878, later 1st regiment S.A.M.R. on 1st April 1913, disbanded 1926.

NESBITT'S IRREGULAR HORSE. This corps, like the two others bearing his name, was raised by Lt.-Col. R.A.N. Nesbitt for the Basutoland Rebellion of 1880. Date of acceptance for service 28th January 1881. The strength was 32, and the personnel were Coloured men.
NESBITT'S LIGHT HORSE. Europeans, two contingents, the date of acceptance of the first being 24th October 1880, and the second being raised in the Midlands of the Cape in March, 1881. The quality of many of the recruits was very indifferent indeed. The first contingent served with Wavell's Force in the Transkei, and the second marched up with his force to join the H.Q. Column in Basutoland in April, 1881, strength 366.
