Ntombi (59), a retired nurse who farmed cattle, and her employee, Thokozani Ncwane (52), who herded her cattle, were murdered and robbed, at Driekwaart Farm outside Vryheid, on 16th March 2012. Both women were found under a bed with their throats slit.

- 01/10/2012: Sifundo Mtshali (23) was sentenced at the Pietermaritzburg High Court to 20 years for each murder and 12 years for each robbery. The second suspect, Sizwe Zulu (21), pleaded not guilty to the charges and was remanded until December 10th for trial at the Dukuza High Court in Bergville.
