Spent most of her early life with Big Mamma since her mom had died shortly after her birth

Ola's father John had to take trips which took several days away from home in the Indian Territory to do trading and buy supplies. On one of these trips Ola who was engaged at the time went down to the creek and was cleaning chickens for food when a gypsy lady came by in a wagon and would tell her fortune if she would give her a chicken. Unknowing that Ola was engaged that said to her that she would not marry the man the man she was engaged but would marry a man whom the guppy lady described in great detail. When Ola's father returned from his trip she saw a man behind him with her father to look at horses.

Ola looked at the man behind her father and recognized him as the man the gypsy lady had desired as the man she would marry, The man was Elias Hankins whom she did marry.

She played several musical instruments: Stringed , Harmonica-and the Pup Organ.
