About Ole Nilson Horsager
Ole Nilson Horsager was born at Stadsbygden, Trondhjem, Norway, on September 20, 1853. He came to America in the year 1879 and settled in Ottertail County, Minn. In 1881 he was united in marriage to Anne Kristine Belling and their union was blessed with seven children. One son, Ole Andrias and one daughter, Anna, have preceded their father to the Eternal Home. In 1882 he came with his family to North Dakota and homesteaded on section 28, Litchvillle township, where he lived with his family until 1919, when he and his wife moved to Litchvillle, where he continued to live until death called him away. He has been troubled with diabetes and a complication of ailments for a number of years but has always been able to care for himself until Saturday, November 3rd, when he was taken seriously sick, which ended his life on November 8, 1928, at 10:30 o’clock in the evening. All his children, with the exception of Mrs. Peder Foss, who arrived too late, were at his bedside when death came. He was 75 years, 1 month and 18 days old. Surviving him are his widow, two sons, Nels Oscar and John C., three daughters, Mrs. Gust Belling and Mrs. Hans Belling whose homes are in the LItchville vicinity, and Mrs. Peder Foss, of Lustre, Montana, besides twenty-four grandchildren. Two brothers, Johan and Nicolas, are residing in Norway. The funeral was held from his home in Litchville on Monday, Nov. 12, at 1 p.m., and from the North LaMoure church at 3 p.m. Rev. Fredrik Dahl, pastor of the church, and Rev. J. S. Sunde, of LItchville officiated. The pallbearers were: J. P. Berg, Andrew Olson, Ole J. Belling, Peter Larson, Thinn Smedshammer and Thorvald Smedshammer. Relatives and friends from a distance present at the funeral were the deceased’s daughter, Mrs. Peder Foss, and his grand-daughter, Bernice of Lustre, Montana; Gust Paulson and mother, Hannah Paulson, of Fort Ransom, Mr. and Mrs. Herman Paulson, of Nome; Mrs. Tom Norgaard of Kathryn; Mrs. Lars Larson, of Sanborn, and Mr. John Fenstad, of Valley City. Mr. Horsager was a faithful and loving father and husband and a good and loyal citizen, neighbor and friend. Blessed by his memory.
