About Ole Lauritz Magnussen Stuve

Ole utvandret til Amerika og ankom det nye landet den 21. januar 1898. Han utdannet seg som fartøysmaskinist. I FT i 1930 var de bosatt i Richmond, NY

Han giftet seg med Berthe Marie Dyste (f. 1885) i Norge og de hadde to barn, hvorav Erik var født i Norge og var 3 år gammel da de emigrerte.

Han døde på sin 75-års dag i sitt hjem på Staten Island etter lang tids sykdom.

Fra han nekrolog i Staten Island Advance, 19. februar 1951:

"Following an 8 year residence in Brooklyn he moved to Staten Island. Before WW1 he was an engineer aboard Vincent Astor's yacht The Noma. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/USS_Noma_(SP-131)

When the yacht and its crew were federalized he was commissioned a lieutenant in the Navy. He served for a time as an inspector in the minesweeping department of what is now the Brooklyn Navy Yard. In 1917 Mr. Stuve was sent by the Navy to its school of engineering in Columbia University. Following his discharge in 1921 Mr. Stuve worked for various steamship lines including the Luckenbach Lines and the Texas Oil Company.

He was last employed for about 20 years as a stationary engineer at 52 Williams Street, Manhattan. He had been partially retired for about seven years.

Surviving are his wife Marie; two sons Col. Eric A commander 106th Air Base Group NY Air National Guard, and Fritjof of Belmar NJ, six grandchildren; a brother Karl and a sister Marie Oen both of Norway.
