Olga Sielig 

Olga Sielig, 89, Lackawanna, N.Y., formerly of New Rockford, N.D., died Friday, Aug. 28, 2009, at Mercy Hospital, Buffalo, N.Y.

Olga Gedrose was born Nov. 29, 1919, at rural Cathay, N.D., the daughter of John and Teckla (Brennon) Gedrose. She grew up and attended Fairville Township, North Dakota, and was baptized and confirmed in Stavenger Lutheran Church. She married Clarence Sielig on Aug. 19, 1945, at Hamburg, N.D. She worked at New Rockford Hospital, New Rockford, for many years until she retired in 1993 and moved to Lackawanna to live with her daughter. She was a member of First Lutheran Church, Martha Circle and the American Legion Auxiliary. She enjoyed crafts, reading, bingo, crossword puzzles and collecting coins.

She is survived by a daughter, Shirley (Ted) Tchorzewski, Lackawanna; four sisters, Tillie Collier, Gerda Backman, Vivian (Dan) Rimmereid, all New Rockford, and Julia Gross, Fargo, N.D.; a brother, John (Barb), New Rockford; three grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband; parents; a sister, Erna; and a brother, Emil.

Services: 2 p.m. Saturday, First Lutheran Church, New Rockford, with the Rev. Russ Christiansen officiating.

Prayer service: 7 p.m. today, Evans Funeral Home, New Rockford.

Visitation: 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. today and 9 a.m. to noon Saturday at the funeral home.
