About Oliver John Johnson
Oliver J Johnson was the second child born to Anne & William Johnson. He was born in 1848 and married twice. His first wife was Mary Chisler who had come out from Germany as a young child with her family and whom Oliver divorced. His second marriage was to Jane Wiblen. The family home was on the eastern side of Lower Coldstream in a house constructed of wooden slabs. The transport used was rowing boat or horse and sulky. Oliver's occupation a farmer and grazier.
Oliver Johnson was my grandfather, and my mothers father, he died in 1918 after he was apparently showing off on a young horse and he apparently hit it and the horse reared and fell on him ...He was according to my mother a bully. His widow continued running the farm He married Jane Wiblen in 1904.

The funeral took place at Maclean yesterday of Mr. Oliver Johnson, of Lower Coldstream, whose death occurred at his home on Wednesday, at the age of 71 years.
Deceased, who was a farmer, had resided on the Clarence River for many years and was a widely known and deeply respected citizen. He leaves a number of relatives, for whom deep sympathy has been expressed.
The funeral was largely attended to the Church of England portion of the Maclean cemetery, the Rev. A. R. Martin officiating at the graveside.
