About Olof Plantin Plantenstedt
Hello,
It looks as if three family names Plantin, Planting and Plantenstedt (Plantin) lived in Umeå, Piteå and Torneå at the same time, in the 16th. From the available records we have not been able to find any information, if these family names are linked or even relatives of each other. My family name is Planting and we are currently working but stuck in our genealogy with the lack of information regarding one of our ancestors, Erik Michelsson Planting. We know that this person has lived and died possible in 1651, possible in Piteå. We have several persons with same names, same dates recorded as his possible sons. We know that Plantings plus Plantins have studied in the same school system in Västerbotten.. I have also understood from the records that Plantenstedt is an early noble name for Planting, being also one of the oldest rank of a noble names in Sweden. The names and records are confusing in some extend, we would be very, very grateful for any information that could assist us to proceed with our genealogy to and from the 16th century with correct ancestors in our family three. Hoping to hear from you soon. Best regards, Anneli Hautala anneli.hautala@elisanet.fi
