Oscar Beck, 87, RFD 3, Archbold, died Friday morning, Dec. 3, 1988, at Community Hospitals of Williams County-Montpelier where he had been admitted earlier that morning.
Born near Pettisville on Sept. 7, 1901, he was the son of Fannie (King) and Daniel Beck.
A lifelong resident of the Archbold and Pettisville area, he had farmed and also owned and operated a poultry marketing business from 1929 to 1945. Mr. Beck was a member of the Central United Brethren Church near Archbold.
On Sept. 28, 1922, he married Mary Yedica, and she survives.
Also surviving are three sons, Robert of Richmond, Kentucky, Don of Stryker and Rollin "Bud" of Archbold; three daughters Mrs. Laura Austin of Edinburg, Texas, Mrs. Wayne (Lois) Jackson of Adrian, Michigan and Mrs. Lowell (Dorothy) Miller of Fayette; 20 grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; 19 great grandchildren and 10 step-grandchildren.
Preceding him in death were two grandchildren; two brothers, Aaron and Elmer; and seven sisters, Mrs. Amanda Schantz, Mrs. Nancy Seiler, Mrs Ellen Schantz, Mrs. Caroline Rupp, Mrs. Katie Becker, Mrs. Eliza Nofzinger and Mrs. Mary Nofzinger.
Services will be at 3 p.m. Monday at the Central United Brethren Church with Charles Gautsche, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Pettisville Cemetery.
