Osmer H Burleson

Osmer was born in Bethel Twp., Branch Co., MI, the son of Adron Burleson and Louisa Moore. Quoting from his obituary from the "Kensal Progress" (Kensal, ND), Thursday, March 8, 1923, page 1:

"The birthplace of Osmer Burleson was at Bethel, Michigan, where he was born March 16, 1860, at the time of his demise being 62 years, 11 months and 15 days of age. Here he was united in marriage to Lucy Chapman [sic] May 5th, 1883, and the following year came to Jamestown and settled in Stutsman County. The piece of land which Mr. Burleson homesteaded, lies seven miles south of Kensal and was farmed by him until he moved to Kensal a few years ago. The farm is still owned by the family and farmed by Mr. Jacobson, his son-in-law.

"Of the eight children who were born to Mr. and Mrs. Burleson, all are living with the exception of the first son, Jesse, who died at Jamestown, Oct. 16th [sic], 1896. Those whose hearts are sad from the loss of a kind and considerate husband and father are: Mrs. Burleson, his wife; five sons, Arthur, Ernest and Glenn of Kensal, Louis F. of Juanita and Howard of Detroit, Mich.; two daughters, Mrs. Cora Jacobson of Kensal, and Mrs. Lena Clough of Sauk Center, Minn., and a brother, Fred Burleson of Valley City. Louis who is now sick with the influenza and confined to his bed and Howard whom they could not reach after repeated telegrams, were the only ones not present at the funeral."
