Henry was a Revolutionary War soldier, and wounded in the Battle of Lexington, April 19, 1775. He was also in the battle of Bunker Hill, June 17, 1775, as a private in Capt. Jeremiah Stiles' Company, Col. Paul Sargeant's Regiment (Mass.). He also served as a private in Capt. Joseph Parker's Company, Col. Enoch Hale's Regiment, in the Ticonderoga Expedition, June 29,1777. And Henry was a private in Capt. James Lewis' Company, Col. Enoch Hale's Regiment, for the Rhode Island Expedition, June 1778.

Henry Bemis
Born in Weston, Mass, January 28, 1750/51. One of the early settle rs of Monadnock No. 6 prior to 1773. One of the town officiers of Packers field elected at first town meeting March 15, 1774. He then had three acr es cleared, two more cut over and a "pole" house. Probably one of the twe nty-seven men who, under Lieut. Abijah Brown, marched from Packersfie ld in response to the Lexington Alarm. Enlisted April 21, 1775, for eig ht months in Capt. Jeremiah Stiles' Company of Colonel Paul Dudley Sergean t's Regiment. Was at Bunker Hill June 17, 1775. (See Samuel Griffin). Si gner of the "Association Test" in Packersfield April, 1776. In Captain Jo siah Parker's Company raised out of Colonel Enoch Hale's Regiment that joi ned the Northern Army at Ticonderoga in July, 1776. In Captain James Lewi s' Company in Colonel Enoch Hale's Regiment that marched from the Sta te of New Hampshire and joined the Continental Army at Rhode Island in Aug ust, 1778. (See Timothy Bancroft). Lived on the Seth Kingsbury place in w hat is now Roxbury. Died in Littleton, N.H., June 24,1833.
