About Paciano Bangoy
Paciano, last governor of Davao, lived at Santa Ana Avenue in a grandiose house situated along Santa Ana Venue, which became the venue of high-society events, hosted Presidents, and was the symbol of wealth in the district. He became governor of the undivided Davao in 1965. The original Davao Province was split into three namely Davao Del Norte, Davao Del Sur and Davao Oriental on 08 May 1967 when President Ferdinand E. Marcos signed Republic Act. No. 4867 into law that was authored by Representative Lorenzo S. Sarmiento Sr. His dedicated selfless services to his native Davao brought progress such as in electricity, machinery, establishments, sanitation, communication and economic development. Prior to this, he was two-time appointed city councilor (1945-47; 1954-55). In his memory, the old Bolton Street, named after the third American governor of Davao, was renamed under Resolution 503, which the City Council approved in 1971.
