About Patience Holcomb
Patience was born to James k. Pelton and Harriet Clark in Champion, Jefferson Co. She grew up with her siblings, David Clark, Sally, Prudence, Lucy, Harriet, James Kelley, Phineas John, Eurotas Albert, Eliza, Daniel S., Jane L. and Lydia Ann Pelton.
She married Reuben Tiff Sr. in Champion, Jefferson Co. NY on Jan. 6, 1822. To this union one child was born, Reuben James Tiff. When Reuben James was about 3 months old his parents moved to Lorain Co. OH. and his father died either before or after the move. Patience parents were living in Lorain Co. Oh at this time and no doubt she moved there to be near them.
About a year later she married Laomi Holcomb on Apr. 24, 1827 at La Grange, Lorain Co. OH. To this union eight children were born, Wardsey Searle, Austin, Lavina, George D., John, Patience E., Rosina and Lucy P. Holcomb. They lived in OH for about 23 years and in 1850 they moved to WI. Reuben James Tiff and his young family moved there also.
After Patience died Laomi moved back to Lorain Co. OH. and married Clarissa Rose, a niece of Patience, the daughter of her sister Eliza R Pelton Rose.
