Patience and David Pease allegedly met on a wagon train travelling west according to family stories. They were married in Eaton, New York with at least his family in attendance, Patience's father having died when she was only four years old. Her mother had remarried.

The following is a death notice printed in the Every Saturday on 2/28/1891:

Miss Patience Pease, one of the oldest settlers of Plato Center, died of old age, Feb. 21, aged 76 years.
