Caution: This man was not a Laird of Guthrie. His son, the Rt. Rev. John Guthrie, Bishop of Moray, purchased the lands and title of the Barony of Guthrie becoming the 11th chief in that line. He did not inherit it from his father.

Born in or about 1550, Patrick Guthrie was the son of Charles Guthrie and Agnes Brown.
Also known as "Patrick of Collision".
Patrick Guthrie's marriage to Margaret Raitt took place sometime before 1575, but no Old Parish Records have been located for the couple.
Burke's Gentry lists only the following children: John Guthrie (Bishop of Moray, 11th of Guthrie), Charles Guthrie, James Guthrie (Minister in Kinnell and Arbirlot), Helen Guthrie. There are no OPR records.
He was a goldsmith by trade and also served as a Bailee of St. Andrews from 1601-1602.

"In St Andrews, in 1590, "at command of the Session," the token irons (communion tokens) were made by Patrick Guthrie, a goldsmith in the town, who also at the same time made 2000 tokens." (Proceedings of the Society of Antiquaries of Scotland Vol 41.)
Patrick Guthrie died in or about 1614.
