About Patrick "Peter" Ayson
Peter Ayson was the first small farm settler in Warepa District. He and his family arrived on "Royal Albert" 1853. He sold his rights to Otago property in order to purchase 50 acres of Warepa land which he called "Corydon" which he would extend to c.800 acres. He and his eldest son, Peter, spent seven months building, digging and planting before the rest of the family made a week-long journey from Dunedin though it would be several months before their belongings arrived at Port Molyneux via the "Endeavour".
