Patrick de Curwen, of Workington

Patrick de Culwen, appears in the pedigree drawn from the 1615 and 1666 Visitations of Cumberland and Westmorland Counties. He is shown as the son of Thomas, son of Gospatric, and shown with three sons, Thomas, Gilbert and Robert.

Patrick was born c.1155 at Preston Patrick, Kendal, Cambria, England and died circa 1212 at age 57. He married and had children.

Patrick received Culwen from his father, while his elder brother Thomas was still living. When his brother died without male heirs, Patrick received the balance of his father's estate. After that he was known as Patrick de Culwen of Workington.

Children of Patrick de Culwen:

• Thomas de Culwen of Workington, who died without heirs and was survived by his brother
• Gilbert de Culwen of Workington, who inherited the lands and title at his brother's death, married Editha and had a son, also named Gilbert
• Robert de Culwen
