About Paul Abbott

Paul was born March 28, 1697 and died May 6, 1752.  

He was the son of William Abbott & Elizabeth Geary.

He married Elizabeth Gray on February 8, 1720, and they had 12 children, 6 boys and 6 girls. She is buried in the Old Abbington cemetery and he in the Grow Cemetery in Hampton, Connecticut.  He was a farmer and relocated to Pomfret, Connecticut about 1722, during the "Great Emigration."  Paul purchased a farm with his brother Philip in Union, Connecticut in 1726.

  1. Nathan, born April 11, 1721, died unknown, first wife was Eunice Marsh, born December 6, 1742, died October 27, 1760, his second wife was Hephzilah Brown, born unknown, died November 24, 1762. Lived in Ashford, Connecticut and had children.
  2. William, born February 18, 1723, died November 1, 1805, first wife was Jerusha Stowell, they were married on May 9, 1745, he had a second wife, details unknown, his third wife was Hannah Edwards, they were married June 4, 1778, she died February 5, 1808.  They lived in Pomfret, Connecticut and had children.
  3. Benjamin, our next heir, born July 25, 1724, died June 21, 1807.  He married his first wife Mary Ann Andrews on January 28, 1746.  She was born July 25, 1727 and died December 8, 1788.  He and Mary Ann had ten children, six boys and four girls.  His second wife was Hannah Brown of Canterbury, Connecticut, they married on June 30, 1790.  He first lived in Canterbury, then Hampton, Connecticut, finally moving to Brookfield, Vermont about 1793.  
  4. Elizabeth (1), born February 5, 1726, died September 10, 1736.
  5. Mary, born March 3, 1728, died August 10, 1769, was married to Joshua Holt, JR of Windham, Connecticut on June 17, 1749.
  6. Sarah, born October 15, 1730, died January 30, 1810, was married to Joseph Ingalls of Pomfret, Connecticut on May 24, 1749.
  7. Isaac, born August 29, 1732, died unknown, married Sarah Barker of Pomfret, Connecticut on April 29, 1756.  He lived in Pomfret, Connecticut and Milford, New Hampshire and had children.
  8. Darius, born October 16, 1734, died August 7,1817, married Mary Nolo on November 1, 1757. “Lived in Andover (Massachusetts) until 1777, after which he resided in Amherst and Hillsboro, New Hampshire”. He was a “housewright and farmer”.  Darius and Mary had 9 children.
  9. Elizabeth (2), born July 20, 1737, died April 7, 1828 in Lexington, Massachusetts, age 90.  She married Joseph Phelps of Pomfret, Connecticut and Andover, Massachusetts.
  10. Harriet, born February 13, 1740, died October 18, 1740.
  11. Hannah, born June 20, 1741, died November 18, 1763.  She was never married.
  12. Asa, born January 7, 1743, died September 4, 1754.
