Born in Culpeper County, he had retired as a farmer and a mail carrier. He was a member of Mount Olive Pentecostal Holiness Church and was the widower of Sarah Eley.
Survivors include a son, Sidney Thomas Eley of Fredericksburg; a daughter, Dorothy Eley Richardson of Fredericksburg; a sister, Annie E Chewning of Fredericksburg; five grandchildren; and seven great grandchildren.
A funeral will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday at Johnson Funeral Home, locust Grove, with the Reverend Marvin McDaniel officiating. Burial will be in Wilderness Baptist Church cemetery.
