The Roll of Honour. — The parish has parted with many its best and most able men in the past few months, and the number of those who are now away doing their best for the Realm is very considerable for so comparatively small a population. In the "Quarterly Journal" the Vicar, the Rev. P. D. Eyre, D.D., says:—

"There are still plenty of men in towns and villages alike throughout England who might join the Colours, and in this vast conflict, which has really only begun, the call in some shape or other will no doubt come to these too, later on.... In the spring, when a vast majority of recruits will have completed their training and joined the fighting line, and be engaged in active warfare abroad, the good custom of reading out the names of those actually fighting for England, in church, at least once Sunday, might well be adopted here, as is the case already in many of the churches."

Appended is a list of men from Framfield who have responded the appeal to join the Army since the War broke out:— ...

Lieutenant Wilfrid R. P. Eyre, R.N., H.M.S. Falmouth
