About Paul M Ziering
Paul M. Ziering Educator in Newark, saxophonist, orchestra leader, 87 Paul M. Ziering, 87, of Springfield, formerly of West Orange, died on Wednesday, July 9, 2008, at St. Barnabas Medical Center, Livingston. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. on Sunday, July 13, 2008, at Bernheim Apter Kreitzman Suburban Funeral Chapel, 68 Old Short Hills Rd., Livingston. Born in Newark, Mr. Ziering lived most of his life in West Orange before moving to Springfield three years ago. He graduated and received his masters degree from NYU and was a music teacher for many years at Webster Junior High School, Newark, and a guidance counselor at Vailsburg High School, Newark. He retired in 1985. Mr. Ziering was an Army veteran, serving in Japan during World War II. A member of the Musicians Local, Essex County, he was the leader and featured saxophone player of his band, the Paul Manning Orchestra, for over 40 years. They were the house band at the Cabana Club in West Orange. He was a religious school teacher and member at Temple Sholom of West Essex, Cedar Grove, and also taught religion at Temple Beth Shalom, Livingston, and Temple Emanuel, Livingston. Mr. Ziering was the beloved husband of the late Mickie; devoted father of Jeffrey, Barry and Ian Ziering; dear father-in-law of Vicky and Debbie; loving brother of Jerry Ziering and the late Eleanor Metsky, Barbara Schwartz and Albert Ziering, and adored grandfather of Joshua, Jonathan, Arielle, Adam and Rachel.
