About Pauline Ann Peters
Anchorage Daily News January 20, 2010
Pauline Peters, 91, died peacefully of natural causes Jan. 14, 2010, at the Pioneer Home. She was surrounded by her three sons and a caring staff. She was a two-time cancer survivor. A funeral Mass was held at Holy Family Cathedral in downtown Anchorage, followed by a reception in the Parish Hall.
Pauline was born Oct. 22, 1918, in Plano, Ill., to Frank and Meta Dempewolf. She was the eldest of 10 children. Pauline attended Mercy Medical School of Nursing in Davenport, Iowa, graduating in 1940. In 1941, she met her future husband, Bill Peters, at a dance hall. He came with another, but Pauline stole his heart. They were married Dec. 30, 1941. Bill accepted a job with the Alaska Railroad in 1946. Except for a few years in Corvallis, Ore., in the '80s, their life was in Alaska. Pauline loved nursing, cooking, letter writing, bridge and pinochle, gardening, shopping, eating out, getting her family together and "Law and Order". She loved her Lord and church. Pauline had a good life with her husband, her sons, and her family and friends. She will be missed.
Pauline is survived by four siblings and their families: Sisters in Iowa, Kay Nemmers of LaMotte, Helen and Sam Neff of Washington, Clara Felderman of DeWitt; and brother and sister-in-law, Phillip and Sandy Dempewolf of Bonita, Calif. Pauline leaves her sons and their wives, all of Anchorage: Jerry and Nan Peters, Bill and Rhonda Peters and Pat Peters and Denise Tindall. She also leaves six grandchildren: Timothy, Tiffany, Crystal, Tracy, Priscilla, Jonathan; her 12 great-grandchildren, Joell, Nick, Brye, Kyle, Linda, Zyved, Jasmine, Annabella, Selena, Bradley, Trinity and Aurora; and three great-great-grandchildren, Dakota, Jada Rose and Alexandrya. Pauline was preceded in death by her husband, Louis W. "Bill" Peters, in 1994; and her siblings, Frank "Bud," Eugene, Donald, Richard "Dick" and Joan Hayes. All of Pauline's siblings, except for Don, have children. Pauline leaves many nieces, nephews and cousins. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to the Haiti disaster or a charity of your choice. Visit the online memorial at legacy.com
