About Pearl Harrison Brooks
THE PLAINS -- Pearl Harrison Brooks, 72, of The Plains, died early Tuesday morning, Feb. 19, 2002, at O'Bleness Memorial Hospital.
Born in Athens County on Feb. 19, 1930, he was the son of Jennie Secoy Brooks of Athens and the late Jesse Brooks. He was a retired shipping and receiving employee of Ohio University, a member of Bethel Apostolic Church of Albany, and an Army veteran of the Korean conflict.
In addition to his mother, he is survived by his wife, Evelyn Jones Brooks; daughters Tina (Jeffrey) Smathers of Chauncey and Tammy (Matt) Hoisington of Athens; grandchildren Tara Smathers and Scott Smathers of Chauncey, and Hadley Hoisington of Athens; a great-grandchild, Brennan Smathers of Chauncey; sisters Goldie Dille of McConnelsville and Ruth Anderson of Cleveland; and brothers Arthur (Janet) Brooks of Columbus, Jack (Judy) Brooks of Cleveland and Leslie (Lena) Brooks of The Plains.
Besides his father, he was preceded in death by brothers Lawrence and Owen Brooks.
Services will be Friday, 1 p.m., at Jagers and Sons Funeral Home, Athens, with Elder Jonathan Pollard officiating. Burial will be in Athens Memory Gardens, with graveside military rites conducted by K.T. Crossen American Legion Post 21.
Friends may call at the funeral home today, from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m.
