Peder Olsen Totland

Biography

Peder was born 1759 and was the son of Ole Nøstbakken. A birth record has not yet been found for Peder; however, his birth date has been estimated based on his age at death. His father became the owner of Nostbakken about 1764 or so, based on the birth records of Peder's younger siblings.

On 6 June 1786, Peder married Marithe Torkelsdatter, as her second husband, at the Moster Church at Finnås Parish.<ref>Record of the Marriage of Marithe Torkelsdatter Totland and Petter Olsen Nostbakken. Finnås sokneprestembete*, Ministerialbok nr. A 3, 1765-1803, s. 65.</ref>

Marithe was born in 1749. She was baptized 29 November 1749 at the Moster Church at Finnås Parish. <ref>Record of the Baptism of Marithe Torkelsdatter. Finnås sokneprestembete*, Ministerialbok nr. A 2, 1744-1764, s. 24.</ref>

Marithe's first husband was Eric Ericksen Hovig, whom she married 7 June 1770 at Finnås Parish. At the time of her marriage, her name was given as "Marithe Torkelsdatter Totland.<ref>Record of Marriage of Marithe Torkelsdatter and Eric Ericksen. Finnås sokneprestembete*, Ministerialbok nr. A 3, 1765-1803, s. 18.</ref> She and her first husband, Eric, were the parents of two children, Helge (1771) and Anna (1777). Eric died in 1785.

Peder and Marithe lived on the farm Totland and were the parents of two daughters, Marithe and Mette.

Marithe passed away 26 December 1826 at Totland at the age of 77. Her remains were interred at the Moster Church 7 January 1827.<ref>Record of the Death and Burial of Marithe Torkelsdatter Totland. Finnås sokneprestembete*, Ministerialbok nr. A 5, 1823-1835, s. 310.</ref>
