About Pedro Consuegra y Viamonte
When he married his second wife,Antonia Marin Gomez "Yeya", his two children by his first wife were older than his new bride. He was probably in his 30s and Antonia Marin Gomez was 14. He was shot while riding a cab by someone with whom he had a dispute, he refused to divulge the assassin's name because he wanted to take care of it himself, he died before he could. Antonia Marin Gomez was pregnant with her last child, Angel Consuegra Marin when her husband died. I have accounts of Pedro riding his horse into the Colonia Espanola, up the staircase to the second floor I have another account, during the war, in which he saw some of the enemies coming towards him, hid in the cane fields, and came out, with guns blazing, through them, to effect his escape.
In an article published in the Fenix de Yayabo magazine, Volume 410, page 18 (see Media, Documents section), it says that in 1884 he and others asked the Spanish government for safe passage to go hunt Bandoleros that were attacking the farms. This coincides with the story I (Hugo Lahera de Rojas) heard that Bandoleros attacked the farm of his great-grandmother Maria Antonia Marin Gomez (Yeya) and injured her older sister's leg, which had to be amputated. Maria Antonia became Pedro's second wife.
