Estenberg, originally a South-Swedish genealogy, later adored; its history offers, among other things. a. Several interesting examples of booth circulation. The knowledge of the older age of the family rests on accurate notes of the noble ancestor (see below), which are in the large Estenberg family archive (10 folio bundles), which includes documents dating back to the 1760s. This was sold at a book auction in 1864 (not 1866) and was purchased by the colonel freh. RM Klinckowström for his archive at Stavsund, where it still exists. The mentioned ancestor's notes on the previous genealogical information provide information in addition to the pedigrees (Hildebrand).
The farmer Mats Philipsson (d. Early 1620s) in Kvarstad village, Tveta sn (Sth.), South of Södertälje, had his son Olof Matsson (b. 1618, d. 1675), first homeowner at Edesta (Esta) in Vårdinge sn (Sth.), Dead as a citizen of Södertälje. He was married three times and had six children in the first marriage, among others. a. a son Per Olofsson, who by the land of 1719 took the name Estenberg (after Esta, see above; b. 1646, d. 1731). He went to school in Södertälje, stayed among other things. a. through information, transferred in the spring of 1666 to Stockholm and became a time writer with the legate Anders Lilliehöök. I aug. In 1668, PO became a provincial writer with Countess Marie De la Gardie(see SBL, 10, 687 et seq.). From Nov. s. å. He served as an accountant in her office until July 1672, when he transferred to the Chamber of Commerce (contract 19 Feb. 1674). In the years 1674–77 he also worked privately for deaf people. Chancellor's Council FJ Örnestedt. From May 1677 PO was bookkeeper in the interest chamber under J. Sneckenberg and married in 1678 to Elsa (Elisabeth) Bengtsdotter, a sister of the treasurer of the Riksbank Lars Balck and the wine bar in Ladugårdslandet Sven Balck. When the Winding-up Commission in 1687 expanded its service staff, PO moved there and was a chambers of his own office there from 1 September. p. to 1720. He had previously requested the name of nobility and assessor, which was granted Oct. 29. 1719. Last time he and his wife lived with younger son Peter (Peter) E. (see below); POE died in Jämshög (Blek.).E. 1 ), who as a childless closed his branch. In the Estenberg archive at Stavsund there are documents about Per OE in vol. 1-2, p. a. a large number of letters from him to his son Olof in vol. 2, as well as his own genealogical and autobiographical notes in vol. 5. Son Peter E's and his spouse's letter to Per OE and his spouse are in vol. 3rd.

Ätten Estenberg härstammar från Södermanland. År 1719 adlades bondsonen Per Olofsson född 1646 med namnet Estenberg för att han troget tjänade riket och drottning Ulrika Eleonora. Namnet Estenberg kom från gårdarna Edesta och Skarberga i Vårdinge socken i närheten av Gnesta. År 1720 introducerades ätten som nr 1678 i den svenska adelskalendern.
